About Shirring

Shirring is the process of compressing a long section of casing into a compact stick by pleating the material into tight accordion folds. A single shirred stick can contain enough casing for many individual stuffed pieces, making shirred casings the most efficient format for high volume production.

Standard shirred stick lengths are produced for common piece lengths (18", 20", 22", 24", 26"). If your product or equipment requires a non standard piece length, We can produce custom shirred sticks to your specification.
